Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has said he will spearhead a special scholarship fund for talented students in all counties across the country.
The governor said it’s frustrating to see that most of the talented children in the country do not prosper due to negligence.
“In Kisii, we have already started it in a small way. I will talk to other governors and ensure they set aside funds for the scholarship to benefit students talented in games,” he said.
While urging schools to promote games, the governor noted that sports made one to grow mentally, physically and instill discipline among students.
He challenged teachers to ensure they nurtured talents of students in their schools so that they could become dependable future citizens in the country.
The county boss also added that there was talent in the region which needed to be nurtured so that it could go to the next level in life.
