Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has criticised the government for poor response to disasters.
Speaking on Monday at Gusii Stadium during the interdenominational mass service, for the Garissa University’s terrorist attack fallen students, Ongwae said it is the duty of the state to protect its people.
He further challenged North Eastern region leaders to reveal the names of Al Shabaab suspects.
"Response and disaster management in our country is wanting. The National Government must therefore improve its security apparatus if its serious in the fight against terror activities,” said Ongwae.
“We are urging our brothers from North Eastern to name Al Shabaab financiers and sympathisers. We need to be thy brothers keeper,” said Ongwae.
Governor Ongwae, gave out Sh100,000 to each of the bereaved families and Sh10,000 to survivors.
He urged Kisii residents to embrace peace as governors are slated to have a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta over security situation in the country.
