Kisii Governor James Ongwae has refuted claims that his relationship with Members of County Assembly was strained following revelations that some of them were planning to impeach him.
This comes after former CIC chairman Charles Nyachae on Sunday persuaded MCAs to drop impeachment plans and allow Mr Ongwae finish his term.
And on Thursday at his office, Ongwae denied knowledge about his impeachment and accused his unnamed competitors of spreading rumors.
“I have been working with the county government pretty well and I have never had issues with them. Whenever there is something that needs attention, we normally sit and iron it out,” he said.
Ongwae added: “I think it’s my competitors trying to imagine a strained relationship with my MCAs. We are working well and I am not aware of any impeachment plans. I just heard about it on Sunday from Nyachae.”
Assembly Majority Chief Whip Henry Moracha also denied knowledge about Ongwae’s planned impeachment and termed the rumor ‘propaganda’.
“Sometimes we should do away with propaganda. I don’t think there are any plans to impeach the Governor. We are working well with his team,” he said.
