Kisii Governor has dismissed claims that he was booed when addressing residents of Manga sub-county during the homecoming ceremony of Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire on Sunday, the event was also grazed by former Premier Raila Odinga.
Mr Ongwae endured torrid moments with the visibly agitated crowd heard chanting ‘Keroka ni Yetu’ meaning Keroka is ours.
The border town has been a center of wrangles between Kisii and Nyamira County in recent months and a peace deal was reportedly signed in the presence of Mr Ongwae and his Nyamira Counterpart John Nyagarama.
Ongwae insisted that he was not aware of any booing saying the Keroka town stalemate was a ‘finished’ deal.
“I am not aware of any booing and maybe people were actually excited to see us in Manga. It was purely a homecoming ceremony of our brother Bosire and I am happy that our people turned out in large numbers to welcome him,” he said.
“If I was to be booed then it should have been at Keroka (where the first rally was held) and that didn’t happen because the Keroka issue is a done deal. Those who might have shouted at Manga maybe were trying to seek attention over nothing,” he added.
Ongwae called for unity and urged members of Gusii community to join the Orange Democratic Movement which he believes will form the next government.
