Kisii Governor James Ongwae has hailed leaders from the county for the unity they have exhibited towards developing the county.
The governor was speaking on Friday at Kenyenya during a fundraiser for Zephaniah Nyangwara, the former Bomachoge MP who is set to undergo a kidney transplant in India.
Mr Ongwae appreciated support from Kisii County Senators and Members of Parliament and the Abagusii in diaspora and urged the community to pray for the ailing leader.
During the fundraiser, Sh1.2 million was raised in the function that took place at Kenyenya sports ground.
Ongwae who was the chief guest gave a donation of Sh200,000.
Abamachoge in diaspora under the leadership of Job Nyangenya sent a contribution of Sh200,000.
Kisii County legislators (MPs and Senators) had collected Sh1 million in a past fundraiser in Nairobi.
Nyang’wara served as Bomachoge MP in 1997-2002 before losing his seat to Joel Onyancha.
During his tenure, he served as a member of the powerful Parliamentary Accounts Committee and Parliamentary Investment Committee.
