Kisii Governor James Ongwae has dismissed claims that he has promised some aspirants Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket ahead of February-March primaries.
Ongwae adds that he will remain neutral and fight for his position as county governor in this year’s elections.
Ongwae’s response comes after a section of social media users accused a section of aspirants of spreading information that the governor would help them get nomination certificates.
“For the purpose of your records, Governor James Ongwae has no favorite aspirant whether senator, Women Representative, MCAs of even Deputy Governor. He is and will remain a party leader and has resolved to remain neutral,’ said spokesman Caleb Simba in a statement at ODM Youth League whatsap group.
‘We are aware of aspirants bragging around on how governor has promised to give them ODM tickets and as things stand, those are heinous lies and should be dismissed,” added Simba.
Ongwae remains ODM leader Raila Odinga’s s point’s man from Gusii region after the defection of Senator Chris Obure to Jubilee Party last year.
