James Ongwae says he will not have any business of clinging in power should he lose in August general elections.
The Kisii County boss is facing stiff opposition from Senator Chris Obure, South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya and seasoned politician Lumumba Nyaberi.
And Ongwae, who will defend his seat on an ODM ticket has challenged his competitors to compete based on policies.
“I will not die in office because time will come to leave. If I lose in elections, I have no business clinging to power and that is democracy,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
“However, they should challenge me on policies and not peddling propaganda about my performance. Let people judge me,” he said.
Already, Ongwae has chosen Eng. Peter Kemori as his running mate, dropping the current Deputy Governor Joash Maangi who had initially shown intentions of working with Jubilee government.
He received a major boost recently when veteran politician Sam Ongeri endorsed his reelection bid last year.
