Kisii County governor James Ongwae has lauded the nurses’ leaders in the country for ending nurses strike that lasted for a week.
According to Ongwae, the strike paralyzed operations in public hospitals leading to unnecessary loss of lives.
Addressing the press on Monday, Ongwae praised the decision of calling off the nurses’ strike to help patients saying it will help restore nomalcy.
“I am happy for the decision( calling off the strike) because most of the patients have been suffering for lack of hospital services,” said Ongwae.
The nurses’ leaders on Saturday called off the strike after agreement with the government over the salary hike and allowances.
However, Kenya National Union of Nurses Secretary General Seth Panyako had disowned the agreement saying it had been illegally signed by his deputy Maurice Odhiambo.
