Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has yet again hit on Governor James Ongwae accusing him of misappropriation of funds and grand mismanagement.
The relationship between the two county officials has been deteriorating in the past years with Ongwae said to be pro-ODM while Maangi understandably a Jubilee Party supporter.
Speaking on Monday when he toured several places in Kisii town, Maangi questioned the Daraja Mbili market project and construction of Gusii stadium which he claimed had stalled despite the allocation of millions of shillings.
“The county government is stinking corruption and I cannot sit down and watch all these happening. We are being taken for granted and that habit ought to stop,” he said.
“The stadium has stalled and this market despite the allocation of millions of shillings. I demand to know how the resources were used that is why I am headed to the anti-corruption unit to report the matter,” he added.
However, a statement released by the communication department from the office of the Governor accused the DG of allegedly running away from his responsibilities.
“The DG is the principal assistant to the Governor and he cannot run away from corruption (if any). He has powers to summon executives and demand explanation and it’s important to desist from crying foul,” read the statement in part.
