Kisii Governor James Ongwae toured troubled Ikorongo border less than a week after leading another big delegation to call for peace along Kisii-Narok border.
The Kipsigis and Abagusii communities have been involved in heavy fighting for the last two months with at least two people reported dead and several others displaced over alleged cattle rustling.
On Wednesday, Ongwae appealed to locals from either side of the border to live in peace and promote positive relationships.
“You have lived together peacefully for many years and it’s disappointing that we can turn against each other. There is always an option for dialogue which should be exploited,” read Ongwae’s post on Facebook.
“Let us live peacefully because all tribes need one another for survival. There are better economic things people can do without engaging in cattle theft,” he added.
Conspicuously present was embattled Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi who had openly backed Kisii Senator Chris Obure’s gubernatorial bid.
