Ongwae said that the government is closely working with the university to make sure that all set joint programs have been achieved. He made specific reference to the training of medical students at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where  he sais they get the much needed practical exposure.

The county government, he said was expanding the existing mortuary to accommodate more students and at the same time increase the hospital's current capacity.

"As a county government we always partner with this university under the leadership of Professor Akama so that we can achieve the goals of this county," said Ongwae.

Governor Ongwae said that his administration will install security lights in the university as a way of improving security.

"The lights will help ensure students are safe at night and ease monitoring and surveillance," he said.
