Kisii governor James Ongwae has termed his opponents 'weak and greedy' adding that he is confident of beating them in August's polls.

He also said that their main agenda is to engage in negative campaigns rather than coming with development issues that would help the county prosper.

Ongwae is facing a stiff challenge from Jubilee's senator Chris Obure and Deputy Governor Joash Maangi with also Wiper's Patrick Lumumba keep to capture the seat.

"My opponents are weak and greedy for power. They are not satisfied with whatever capacities they are serving. I am yet to see a serious candidate who will face me," he told a gathering at Bomariba.

He added: "Their agenda is how to beat me in an election. Nothing good has ever come from them. They are panicking and I am ready to challenge them."

Ongwae who is also a key points man for opposition leader Raila Odinga, said the Gusii community will vote for the opposition in August elections.
