Nyaribari Chache constituency Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy chairman Zachary Motari has asked elected leaders not to vie for party leadership positions.
Speaking on Sunday at Keumbu, Motari said the elected leaders are required to resign from the offices they current hold before being allowed to vie for party positions.
He also said the ODM Kisii secretary seat was to go to the constituency citing rotational basis agreement.
The current secretary for the party is Kisii governor James Ongwae who is defending the seat in the December 16, 2015, elections.
Senator Chris Obure, the current county ODM chairman is also defending his seat.
"Governor Ongwae should drop his candidature for the secretary position of the party. It is now time for Nyaribari Chache to have the seat," said the ODM official.
He added: "Those contesting for party posts and are serving in the government are contravening the law. They are state officers and if the law requires that if one gets interested in a party post, should first resign from his job."
