Kisii Governor James Ongwae believes Senator Chris Obure is power hungry and has nothing new to offer area residents.
Obure, who has been critical of Ongwae administration for a year now, has since launched his gubernatorial bid on a Jubilee Party ticket.
But Ongwae, through his communication team refuted claims by Obure that his administration is marred with corruption and incompetent fellows.
“Governor Ongwae does not recruit workers because it is a preserve of CPSB. We are saddened that Obure can claim that he recruited workers through unscrupulous means,” read the statement on Wednesday.
“This is just about power and nothing about the development of our region. We still urge senator Obure to speak the truth once engaging the public,” added the statement.
Untill his defection, Obure was ODM Kisii branch Chairman while Ongwae remains the party’s Secretary General
Obure however, is facing stiff competition from Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi in the scramble for Jubilee Party ticket.
