A section of farmers drawn from Sombogo area in Kitutu Chache North Sub-County have now called upon area Governor James Ongwae to explain why construction of a factory meant to be put up at Sombogo had not started.
The project was to cost sh 30 million.
Led by Kegogi ward representative Kepha Sagini on Wednesday the agitated locals said the County government had set aside the funds for the project in the financial year 2014/15 but unfortunately the project hasn’t commenced and they haven’t received any communication as to why.
“We offered ourselves and bought extra land for the project of Sambogo tea factory but we are unhappy that three years down the line nothing has started and that’s why we are giving Ongwae one week to explain to us where the funds are” said Sagini
The residents threatened to write a letter to the Ethics and Anti-corruption commission so that they can take over the matter so as it investigates the matter.
Ongwae has been under pressure to explain why most projects were stalled in the county despite receiving funds.
