The Kisii County Government has parted with 300 million shillings to settle the claims of firms contracted by the Ongwae administration.Speaking yesterday in the county, Governor Ongwae hailed the move saying that it would go along way in easing the debt burden that has saddled the county.''We have had issues before but with this payments, the county will return to the good graces of contractors. Much of these problems have been occasioned by delays at the National Treasury. We can now move forward,'' he said. The payments come in the context of heightened scrutiny of the county administration's expenditure given that it has been called out in the past for alleged misappropriation of funds, allegations that the Ongwae administration has strongly rejected.
