Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has now called upon IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati to resign and allow a new commission to be formed following a dramatic resignation of three commissioners.
Governor Ongwae argued that the embattled IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati should lead the remaining commissioners in exiting the commission as they had failed Kenyans after they conducted a sham election in 2017.
He also accused the chairman of sleeping on his job.
"The resignation of the three commissioners is a clear indication that the whole commission is competent to run any future election under the leadership of Chebukati," said the governor.
"We as leaders as well as concern Kenyans we now want the IEBC chairman to step aside as well as the remaining commissioners so that the president can appoint a new committee that will come up with a new team that can head the commission towards a successful election for the country," he added.
The Governor's sentiments come at a time a section of leaders from both Jubilee and NASA have called upon Chebukati to step aside for failing to put his house in order.
They include; Siaya Senator James Orengo as well as Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen.
