Kisii governor James Ongwae has promised to support Kisii youth to form a youth group society to enable them to prosper.
Governor Ongwae noted that through the society, the youth will be able to access loans and start income generating projects.
"We want to help the youth form a society for self-sustainability. This will reduce poverty in our county," said Ongwae.
He was speaking on Tuesday in Kisii town when he launched a clean-up exercise.
The county has hired and deployed 1,800 youths to unclog blocked drainage throughout the county as the El Nino rains continue pounding the region.
Ongwae said the contracted youth would be paid their dues beginning Wednesday, November 25.
The event was also attended by Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, CeCs; Moses Onderi (Lands), Sarah Omache (Health Services ), Chief Officers; Alice Nyariki, Patrick Lumumba and Zablon Ongori, and the director of Kisii town management Beatrice Ochoki among other senior officers.
