The Chairman of parliamentary committee on Labour and Social Welfare David Were has lauded Kisii County governor James Ongwae for the many development projects his government has implemented in the county.
Were, who was speaking in Kisii county offices on Wednesday during his committee auditing process of government’s Cash Transfer Program for the elderly, the disabled and OVCs in the region.
“Am happy to see that the county government is not discriminating against any region on its programs regardless of political affiliations,” he noted.
He said that already, there are 5,850 beneficiaries of the Cash Transfer Programs in the sub-counties in the region.
The beneficiaries have so far received a total of Sh140 million.
An additional 1,076 beneficiaries will be enlisted in 2015/16 financial year with a direct cash transfer of Sh25 million more expected to flow in the county.
He urged Kenyans to support such programs to help more people benefit.
“The government does not see politics in its programs. It sees one country whose people need services. That is why we should stop petty politics and support projects that benefit Kenyans,” he said.
