Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has promise to complete the lighting project at Kisii University.

Speaking on Wednesday at Kisii University sports ground during the launch of E-waste management, Ongwae said that the project of installing security lights will be completed to ensure students’ safety.

“The project is yet to be completed and I will ensure that security lights are installed to the main campus,” said Ongwae.

He was responding to Kisii University Students Union president Robert Nanyumba, who sought to know the progress of the project.

He further said that the university has signed a memorandum of understating with his government, where medical students will be using Kisii level 6 Hospital.

According to Ongwae, the facility will equip students with necessary skills, adding to the cancer center that is being established at Kisii level 6 and which will be run by the university.

The programme was officially launched by Cabinet Secretary in the ministry of Environment Prof Judy Wakhungu, Kisii County Governor James Ongwae, Kisii University Vice Chancellor Prof Moses Akama among other officials.

The E-waste management project has come in the wake of threats posed by electronic gadgets such as phones, computers and television when disposed inappropriately.
