Kisii Women Representative Mary Otara will have a tough task to defend her seat after County chief James Ongwae threw his support behind senator Janet Ong'era.
The latest developments means Otara has to face Ong'era, a former ODM executive, in the impeding party primaries.
Speaking at Marani on Tuesday, Ongwae said that Ong'era would help support women and youths efficiently if elected.
"I am bringing someone whom I think will help me work effectively. She has proven and I am sure she won't disappoint you," Ongwae said.
In her acceptance Ong'era said: "I am ready to work for you as Women Representative and my hope is that we shall deliver as a team."
Ong'era has been among Kisii top leaders around the leadership of ODM party leader Raila odinga for over a decade.
Otara has previously accused her of sabotaging her work through execution of 'illegal' activities across the county.
