Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has said that opponents should give him humble time to serve the people of Kisii County who elected him last year.
The ODM governor said there is nothing wrong with him meeting DP William Ruto to discuss the development in the county.
“My rivals should wait until 2022 to try the luck when I will be retiring. On Tuesday I met with DP Ruto to discuss development in our county,” he said.
Ongwae who was NASA leader Raila Odinga’s chief campaigner during the last year’s polls said he has not decamped from the opposition.
“We saw the other day Ruto apologizing to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and President Uhuru Kenyatta did the same to Raila. It means we should drop our political differences to serve the electorates. Some political losers should stop misleading members of the public that I met DP Ruto to plan on how the Gusii region will form one party to campaign for DP Ruto in 2022,” he noted.
Ongwae stated that the meeting was successful because Ruto promised to give Sh50 million to help in the upgrading of Etago health center among other projects which shall be launched in the coming days.
This comes after a section of Gusii politicians led by Victor Swanya accused Ongwae of betraying Kisii electorates when he met DP Ruto.
Swanya claimed that Ongwae has been bribed to support DP Ruto in 2022 to give him a job because he (Ongwae) will be retiring.
