Kisii Governor James Ongwae has refuted claims by senator Chris Obure that he made him governor in 2013.
The two leaders worked together in 2013 before Obure bolted out of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for Jubilee Party early this year.
They are set to face each other in gubernatorial contest later this August
"I campaigned in the entire county and its a lie that someone helped me. I reached people an they gave me mandate," he said at Suneka on Wednesday.
"I do not fear anyone and I am ready to face them . This is politics and we must face each other if that is the case," he added.
Ongwae expressed his optimism that opposition leader Raila Odinga will win this year's presidential election.
