Speaking to the Press on Friday morning in his office, Governor James Ongwae pledged to give Sh50,000 to each of the 11 affected families and Sh10,000 to survivors.

He said that his government will also facilitate transportation of the bodies from Chiromo Mortuary in Nairobi to their respective homes.

Ongwae said that he has put in place proper mechanisms of counselling survivors of the attack so that they recover from trauma over what they might have witnessed, when their colleagues were being butchered.

"My government will give Sh50,000 to each of the bereaved families and Sh10,000 to survivors and to cater for some othe burial arrangement costs,” said Governor Ongwae.

However, Ongwae asked residents to be careful and report anybody they suspect to be engaging in suspicious moves.

He promised to work with the National Government to ensure peace prevails among the Kisii people and Kenya as a whole, but also challenged the public to support the government in the fight against insecurity.

“I am ready to work with the National Government to ensure that our citizens are safe. However, members of the public have a pivotal role to play by reporting suspected criminals in their localities to help curb insecurity,” appealed Ongwae.
