Four governors drawn from South Rift and Kisii counties will lead a joint peace drive in a bid to resolve perennial cross-border clashes in the area.
According to Kisii Governor James Ongwae, his counterparts from Nyamira, Bomet and Narok counties have agreed to hold the drive so as to find a lasting solution to the crisis.
His sentiments come in the wake of heightened tension in Ikorongo in Nyaribari Masaba subcounty where tribal clashes attributed to cattle rustlin,g have left a trail of destruction.
"I dont think the national government is serious about ending the clashes in Ikorongo because the conflict seems to go on and on," he said.
"We need peace for economic prosperity and that is why we have decided to come together as governors from the three affected communities (Kisii, Kipsigis and Maasai) to resolve the problem," he added.
