Kisii county Governor James Ongwae has blamed the rate of the growth of clannism as the main challenge that he has been facing while in office and called upon the residents to shun from it.
Speaking while meeting a group of youths drawn from Kisii county at his local residence on Wednesday Ongwae said that he would be happy if all the residents would elect leaders based on performance without looking at the clan that they come from.
The governor lamented that most of the youths in the are had been blinded by the negative clannism hence bringing most of the county projects to stand still despite the fact that funds had been allocated.
“There is need for the young to help me fight the elephant in the county called clannism so that we can have a better-united county with one common goal and above all be able to deliver development projects,” he added.
Ongwae though showed confidence in county growth and said that he will fight to ensure that he unites all the residents.
