Kisii County governor James Ongwae has urged Members of Parliament in the country to fight and compel the national government to increase the amount of money to counties.
Speaking on Tuesday in Kisii town Ongwae said there is a need for county governments to get more money from the national government since county government needs money to use.
Ongwae said county governments pay salaries to health workers, ECD teachers, county workers, buying hospital drugs and equipments, constructing health centres, polytechnics, installing water projects, cultural affairs among others yet they receive little money for all those issues.
“I am asking MPs in this country to fight for county governments to get additional money,” said Ongwae.
“I am challenging the national government to tell us why resources are still remaining in Nairobi. We want more resources to counties,” he added.
