Kisii County staff who will be found working in cahoots with contractors and suppliers to steal county funds will be fired.
This is according to Governor James Ongwae who said that he was aware that some county officials were working in cahorts with contractors.
According to him, such workers had their days numbered as the devolved government was not going to allow them operate like that.
“I am aware that some of the contractors have been working closely with a number of County workers to receive payment on contracts they haven’t completed but it’s now over as I will ensure that they’re fired and prosecuted,” said Ongwae .
The Governor further said that he will again do staff head-count to weed out ghost workers and send home non performing staff.
"I have seen many people walk up and down around here. I will soon ask them to tell me where they work, what they do in those offices, what time they report to their offices,” he said.
The Governor was speaking on Tuesday evening after conveying a talk with the county assembly members in a Kisii Hotel after his win was upheld by court.
