Sylvanus Osoro says Kisii Governor James Ongwae would lose his re-election bid following a ‘bad’ running mate choice.

Nairobi based business man Peter Kimori, who initially was running for Bomachoge-Borabu parliamentary seat, was picked as Ongwae’s running mate.

And Osoro, who has since shifted his support to South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya, says the incumbent would lose in August.

“Elections are all about calculations. Choosing a running mate from Bomachoge means you have technically lost and that is what has happened,” he said on Thursday.

“His choice is bad based on voting arithmetic. This is not 2013 where people were a bit not informed and he ought to have known that. He should have talked to South Mugirango,” added Osoro.

For Mr. Ongwae to survive, he has to beat strong competition spearheaded by Chris Obure and Manson Nyamweya.

He dumped his current Deputy Joash Maangi, who had initially indicated that he would work with Jubilee administration.
