Kisii County governor James Ongwae has asked motorists using various roads across the county to adhere to set traffic road rules to curb road accidents.

The county chief said for the past few months the country has lost so many people through road accidents caused by careless drivers.

“A few months ago the country has witnessed a lot of people losing their lives through road accidents. I want to challenge all motorists using the various roads across the county to follow the simple road rules to help in reducing road accidents,” he said.

Ongwae said his government will upgrade and expand roads to prevent wide trucks ferrying goods to various destinations from colliding with passenger matatus.

“My administration will allocate more funds to expand and open up roads to ensure there is enough space for vehicles to prevent accidents,” he noted.

He was speaking on Wednesday evening when he visited a scene where a Nyamira express bus rolled and injured 17 passengers at Amabuko few miles from Keroka town along the Kisii–Keroka highway.
