Kisii Governor James Ongwae had one of his security officer injured on Wednesday in a scuffle with rowdy youths during a voter registration campaign.
Ongwae had his speech periodically interrupted by a section of rowdy youths who accused him of underdevelopment during voter mobilisation campaign in Bomachoge-Borabu.
The ugly incident at Kenyenya market happened few hours after the county chief had encountered another rowdy group of youths in South Mugirango.
"It is only in a few centres where some paid youths attacked over caravan. Otherwise the reception was wonderful in many regions we toured," Ongwae said.
"Our main aim is to have people register as voters and the rest will follow. ODM remains the strongest party in Kisii region," he added.
Ongwae is facing stiff competition from area senator Chris Obure who is set to contest on a Jubilee Party ticket.
