Mailu has said that the platform dubbed Maisha Maarifa hub- hosted by the National Aids Control Council has come at a better time to compliment the much-needed repository.

"I believe the hub will provide the much needed central location where studies are done in Kenya on HIV and related co-morbidities, sexual and reproductive health, are collated and availed publicly," said Mailu.

Mailu added that the establishment of the portal is one of the efforts by the ministry to enhance efficiency in undertaking research, spur technology and innovation as visualised in the vision 2030. He had earlier noted that duplication, repeated mistakes and unrecognised achievements in research work on HIV continue to affect the war against the disease.

"It is alarming that an estimated 2, 000 HIV research proposals processed monthly cannot be accessed. I was recently informed by our 23 ethical review board," said Mailu.

He also added that Maisha Maarifa is the first of its kind in Kenya and the region which is an interactive programme that allows online debates on topical issues.

Mailu also acknowledged the high quality of data presented in many international forums from Kenya.
