National Police Service has termed as false the murder claim leveled against police for the election period.
It said that only 19 people lost their lives between the August and October repeat elections contrary to reports by the Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU).
IMLU had put the number at 36.
According to a statement by Police Spokesman George Kinoti, the report by IMLU is inaccurate and an exaggeration of true facts.
The spokesman said that only 11 deaths were documented between 8th and 11th of August and that eight others were recorded between October 25th and 30th.
He said in Nairobi a total of five people were involved in a shootout with police and were fatally wounded.
