Machakos County governor Dr Alfred Mutua said electing bad leaders and expecting change is a show of foolishness.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader was speaking in Busia County where he met Chap Chap aspirants. The governor also blamed corruption as a key hindrance to development in Africa. He blamed voters for repeating the same mistake every electioneering year.

Mutua urged Kenyans to evaluate their current leaders as well as new comers before giving them the mandate to rule.

"We are the fools who elect bad leaders every five years and expect change. Let the leaders show their scorecards before you give them another contract," Dr Mutua said.

The Machakos County boss also wondered why Kenyans elect leaders who lack vision. Mutua took the opportunity to warn the electorate against repeating the same mistake in the next general election because their plight will not be attended to. He said that his party will only accommodate development-oriented leaders.

"Kenya is a rich country with too much politics. But the problem is not the leaders. It is us who keep on making the same mistake. We only need development-oriented leaders in MCC. We cannot embrace corrupt leaders who will continue fooling us and end up finishing our country," said Dr Mutua.
