Lamu Women Representative Shakila Abdalla Tuesday rallied county residents to vote for the National Super Alliance (NASA) saying it was the only coalition that will address their issues.
Abdalla also accused the Jubilee Party of intimidating residents by imposing curfews and bans, The Star has reported. She claimed the recently imposed curfew was a ploy by the ruling party to frustrate residents, noting that it was disappointing that it has been imposed after residents were subjected to a similar one for almost a year between 2014/15 following the Mpeketoni attacks.According to the lawmaker, the county will only regain its lost glory by voting for NASA, stating it “will wipe away the tears of residents”.She at the sometime accused JP of giving promises but failing to deliver. Also on the spot is the plan by the government to construct the coal plant in the region, with the MP saying its interest is only in the money and not the residents’ welfare.“What Jubilee has been doing is to promise. They are so good at it. Look at what remains of Lamu’s security now,” said Abdalla.
