The exercise saw nine youth selected to join the army, ranging from residents of Naivasha, Kongoni and Mai Mahiu divisions. The exercise however saw many of the youth turned away with claims that they came from areas not within the county.

"There are some recruits who came from Nandi district and did not belong to this constituency," said Colonel Mohammed Gababo who was in charge of the exercise.

He cited that there were no cases of corruption as they had given prior warning to the recruits that they risked arrest in case they were found issuing bribe.

'We wanted the exercise to be as transparent as possible and we did not witness any cases of corruption," he added.

Among the successful candidates was 19-year-old Mary Nyokabi who could not hide her excitement.

"The exercise has been free and fair. We have not witnessed any cases of corruption and I am glad I made it through. Though it was tough we made it," she said.

Other sub counties which the exercise is set to take place in Gilgil and Subukia.
