UDP leader Cyrus Jirongo has said that the solution to Kenyan problems is in the hands of politicians.

The presidential candidate in the just concluded presidential elections advised the church to let honest politicians resolve the current stalemate in the country.

“This problem is not legal and cannot be resolved by churches. It doesn’t matter which route one takes, only a political solution will solve this mess. Chest-thumping will not help matters,” Jirongo told the Star on the phone.

The former Lugari legislature also criticized the Kenyan constitution saying that it is the mother of the current mess.

He called for a constitutional review to include all communities in the government of the day.

His proposal echoes the stand by the National Council of Churches of Kenya which urged Kenyans to amend the constitution to include a Prime Minister, two deputies to the PM and an official leader of opposition slot.

“It is necessary that as leaders we review the Constitution to ensure all communities feel they are part of the government of the day,” he said.
