Bokeira MCA Callen Atuya believes its only opposition leader Raila Odinga who can run against President Uhuru Kenyatta and win the 2017 elections.
Cord has not settled on a presidential candidate who will run against the Jubilee flagbearer President Uhuru Kenyatta with less than 10 months to General Election.
Speaking to this writer on Wednesday on the phone, Atuya backed his party leader saying he has a ‘substantial’ following unlike his co-principals Moses Wetangula (Ford-K) and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper).
“With the current political set up, honestly I think Raila is the only person who can successfully run against the Jubilee regime. He has been traversing the country since 2013 and that is a basic prove that he is qualified,” she said.
“I am not undermining other contestants but truth be said, Raila has a substantial following than any other person. He should be the Cord's flag bearer in 2017 and I am certain he will still beat Jubilee,” she added.
She appealed for unity in the opposition coalition and challenged Wetangula and Musyoka to support Raila’s bid for the last time before asking for endorsements.
