The Kenya Meteorological Service has said the onset of the short rains season which begins in October through to December still is within the forecast period.
Deputy Director of Meteorological Services Samuel Mwangi said even as the weather systems remain “disorganised”, most of the areas predicted to experience the onset in the second to the third week of October this year will still receive the rainfall.
The country usually has two main rain seasons with the long rains season that comes between March and May, and the second season which occurs between October and December.
“Kenyans should not be overly worried as the forecast is still within the stated time,” he said.
“Most of the country was predicted to begin experiencing the onset of the short rains season in the second to the third week of October and we are within the time margins,” he added.
