Kisumu County Assembly speaker and former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s pointman in Nyanza Onyango Oloo says there will be a constitutional crisis.
Oloo told the President to be ready for a caretaker government.
He argues that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will not manage to hold elections on October 17.
“Our position is there will be no elections without reforms and as a result, there will be a constitutional crisis come October 17. However, a constitutional crisis always has constitutional cures,” Oloo said, as quoted by The Standard.
Oloo said the time is too short to conduct free and fair polls and that there will not be adequate preparations.
He also faulted the church, accusing it of failing to provide direction on the matter and instead taking sides.
Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o said there will be no elections if Nasa’s demands are not met.
