Onyango Oloo, is the new Speaker for the Kisumu County Assembly.

The former TNA (defunct) secretary general who defected to the ODM party to vie for Kisumu Central parliamentary seat, was fronted by the Raila Odinga-led party.

In the elections held Wednesday morning, Oloo beat outgoing Speaker Anne Adul and rival Ken Omondi, to clinch the seat, after garnering sufficient votes, from the rest of the MCAs.

Oloo shelved his MP ambitions after Fred Ouda, beat him during ODM nominations to clinch the party ticket in April. Ouda later clinched the seat, beating his closest challenger, Yussuf Ooro Odongo (Independent candidate) among other five candidates in the August 8 polls.

Several MCAs from the ODM party, which dominates in the county, endorsed him, saying he was fit for the job.
