Former TNA secretary general Onyango Oloo has backed a decision by the ODM party leader Raila Odinga, that the National Super Alliance (Nasa), will have a parallel tallying centre.
Oloo who decamped to ODM to vie for the Kisumu Central parliamentary seat, said there is nothing wrong with Nasa having a parallel tallying centre different from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). He said TNA also had it in the 2013 elections and so, claims that Nasa would be going against the law, was false, since all aspirants were allowed to know all their votes, cast. ''There is nothing wrong with Nasa having a parallel tallying centre. When I was the TNA secretary general, the party was aware of votes cast, ad that is what Nasa wants. Every candidate is allowed to know the number of votes they receive from every polling station,'' he said, Monday.
According to Raila, the Nasa parallel tallying centre would help Opposition curb cases of vote rigging, and false transmission of votes to the IEBC's national tallying centre.
The IEBC is against the Nasa proposal.
