Mr Onyonka recently claimed that the region had switched allegiance to Jubilee government when President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto visited the region.

But a number of Facebook users have not taken his remarks lightly and instead seized the opportunity to throw scathing attacks to the outspoken legislator.

“Sometimes it really amuses me when a political flop moves around purporting to speak on our behalf. If I was him, I would be fighting to keep my parliamentary seat because he will be causality in 2017,” said Peter Nyamweya.

“Onyonka is a persona non grata to Gusii politics and he understands that. We cannot allow losers who bend low to get government support for their own benefit. I doubt whether he was speaking on behalf of the community and if so, he should apologise,” added Stephen Mong’are.

Another user Benson Ogito accused the legislator of allegedly shielding sugar smuggling case by hiding in Jubilee government for protection.

“This man is well known for sugar smuggling and he has a case. He is now hiding in Jubilee government just for protection. I doubt whether he has gone around and done an assessment on voting patterns in Gusii,” he said.

Efforts to get a response from Mr Onyonka were futile since he could neither respond to texts or phone calls when the reporter tried to reach him on Wednesday.
