Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has refuted claims that he disappeared with an estimated Sh21 million allegedly dished out at State House following a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Onyonka has been subjected to online ridicule with a section of social media users mocking him of allegedly denying his colleagues who were also in the team that meet Uhuru on Thursday the alleged cash.
The leaders mainly chosen from across the political divide from Kisii County, met Uhuru and pledged to support his re-election in 2017.
But Onyonka in a quick rejoinder insisted that the meeting had nothing to do with money, and accused Cord supporters of fueling the rumours.
“It’s true that I met the President and our aim was to discuss development in our region. It had nothing to do with the money because that wasn’t our mission at all,” he said.
“It’s wrong that Opposition supporters are defaming my name simply because it took a stand on my political future. It’s not right that when we disagree politically, you start naming people. President Uhuru doesn’t give money in return for support,” he said.
Onyonka also insisted that the Jubilee government will be re-elected in 2017 due to its remarkable development record.
