Mr. Onyonka has been a chief critic of ODM leader Raila Odinga and has openly supported Jubilee Alliance Party while blaming the opposition leader of not visiting his people.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity says that the MP has since reconsidered his stand due to the rising resistance from residents on the formation of Gusii Unity which was dubbed Otamba declaration besides him fearing Governor James Ongwae’s influence.

“I want to assure you that Onyonka is not moving out of ODM because the party is popular in his area of representation and it will be suicidal for him to leave since he needs re-election,” said the source.

“He also comes from Ongwae’s clan and people have advised him to not join the team pushing for the Governor’s removal. He has retreated and I am pretty sure it’s a matter of time he starts supporting Ongwae openly for his own future,” the source added.

Though Onyonka could not be reached for comment, outspoken Kiogoro MCA Samuel Apoko hinted that no disgruntled members of the ODM party would leave for government affiliates by 2017 polls.

“All these small differences in the party would be solved amicably before the elections. As ODM, we are confident that our elected leaders would not move out because the party still remains strong in the county,” he said.
