On Monday, Onyonka apologised to the party leader Raila Odinga for ditching the party and accused the Jubilee administration of taking the country in the wrong direction.

“We have realised that nothing is being done.. that the country is taking the wrong direction and we would rather stay with the ODM and work with the party,” said Onyonka during the ODM National Governing Council meeting at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

Ogari on his part claimed he had not defected, adding that he was life member of the ODM.

He argued that his association with some members allied to Jubilee in search for development in his region could have been misconstrued that he had left the party.

He said  even though he has had issues with the party and at times even frustrations, he is committed to working with ODM.

"The issues have been clarified and now I'm at peace," said Ogari.

Onyonka is one of the Kisii County leaders who had decamped to Jubilee and even campaigned for the party’s candidate in the recent Nyacheki by-election.

The Orange party won the mini-poll.

ODM national chairman John Mbadi welcomed them back to the party.
