Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka made an unexpected switch on Monday by rejoining ODM after ditching it for Jubilee Party a few months ago.
"I have realised the country is taking the wrong direction, we have realised that we would rather stay in ODM and work with the party," said Onyonka.
"I would like to officially apologise to the party leader and all of you, thank you very much and let us work together," he added.
Onyonka was speaking during ODM's national governing council meeting at the Bomas of Kenya. However, his move was not easily welcomed by politicians from Kisii led by Senator Ongera and MCA John Ombati.
"While we all know it is biblical to forgive those who have wronged you but we have the following observations to make," said Ongera.
Ongera together with Ombati said they welcome back Onyonka and other politicians from the area who have decided to rejoin ODM but they should face due process.
"We as ODM Kisii branch demand that due process is followed and that in accordance with the party constitution and the rules this matter must be referred back to our branch for discipline," said Ongera.
Ombati went ahead to compare the rebel MPs to a wife who runs from his husband and when she reconsiders her ways she should be punished and judged by the elders.
"In line with Kisii custom, if you marry a woman and she runs away but later reconsiders and returns, tradition should be followed. The unfaithful woman must sit in the council of elders and be weighed efficiently," said Ombati.
"We welcome the rebel MPs but they must be judged first," he added.
