The decision by Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka to rejoin ODM party was timely and would likely save his political career, a political analyst has noted.

Onyonka on Monday apologised to the party leader Raila Odinga and insisted that he was ready to promote the party’s activities across the country.

And Kisii University don Nyachieo Bogonko in an interview with the reporter said the move would help the outspoken legislator salvage his diminishing political career.

“Onyonka is a smart politician and I think the Nyacheki by-elections have taught him a lesson. The Gusii people are not ready to join Jubilee and he quickly learned that. It shows that he is very god in learning the mood,” he said.

“I think the move would save his political career to a larger extent. We saw how Nyacheki people almost stoned him and coming back to ODM is a well-calculated move to salvage his dwindling support," he added.

It's only last week when Onyonka hosted the Deputy President William Ruto and vowed to support the Jubilee Party only to change his mind in a short period.
