Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has accused the Senate of failing to effectively discharge its duties on oversight.
Speaking in Kakamega, the County chief accused senators sitting in key oversight committees of using their positions to blackmail and extort money from governors.
He has since vowed never to appear before any Senate committee, arguing that Members of County Assemblies have the requisite to oversight the County governors.
“They wanted money and I said I can’t give them money. Ask yourself why not a single governor they summoned over corruption has been charged in court. I will never go back to the Senate even if Jesus comes back,” he said.
He further claimed that Kakamega Senator and his main rival Boni Khalwale is only out to loot the County resources as the lawmaker seeks to unseat him.
“Khalwale thinks that the county is a place for stealing,” he quipped.
