Outgoing Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale now claims his opponent for the gubernatorial seat, Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, bribed an IEBC official to manipulate poll results.
The outspoken politician claims Oparanya, who was declared the winner, deposited money into the Returning Officer’s bank account.
He, however, did not present the evidence of the claims.
County returning officer Grace Rono declared Oparanya winner with 387,999 votes, while Khalwale received 134,999.
"We want police to demand for a statement from the bank and establish whether it received money on voting day or not," Khalwale said.
Oparanya has however dismissed Klalwale’s allegations, saying they were “roadside proclamations by a loser”
